πŸŒ—CIP-25

Igniting NFTs on Cardano

CIP-25 introduced a standardized format for NFT metadata on the Cardano blockchain. The proposal defined how information about an NFT, such as its name, image, and attributes, should be stored on-chain, making it easier for wallets, marketplaces, and tools to interpret NFTs consistently.

The first collection minted using this standard was Berry, a set of 100 NFTs distributed to supporters of the Berry stake pool. These tokens served both as a community reward and as an early real-world test of the CIP-25 metadata format.

Following this initial experiment, the SpaceBudz collection launched with 10,000 characters, further demonstrating the capabilities of the new standard. The project helped showcase how structured metadata could support larger NFT collections on Cardano.

After these early implementations, CIP-25 became the widely adopted standard for NFT metadata across the Cardano ecosystem, enabling greater interoperability between wallets, marketplaces, and other NFT infrastructure.
